i love , love the relaxing smell and taste of Lemongrass, so I made my own version of a cool drink for a relaxing Saturday, I’m calling it Sparkling Lemongrass with Agave Syrup.

Fact is, the health benefits of Lemongrass are countless. Studies have shown that it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is also known to help cleanse and detoxify the liver, pancreas, kidneys, bladder and the digestive tract. It also helps cut down cholesterol, uric acid and list goes on and on. Give it a try!

Sparkling Lemongrass with Agave Syrup

1 cup water
1/2 cup agave syrup
4 tablespoons chopped lemongrass
750 ml sparkling water (i use Pellegrino) you can use club soda too

Add water, agave syrup and lemongrass to a saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat stirring frequently until bubbles start forming on the outside wall of the pan but the liquid is not boiling. Reduce heat to medium or medium low and continue cooking down the liquid for another 10 minutes. Turn off heat and allow to cool to room temperature.

Strain the syrup to remove lemongrass pieces and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Mix together 1 1/2 – 2 tablespoons of syrup with 6 ounces sparkling water over ice for each serving. Garnish with a lemongrass stalk and mint.
